Regarding New HMSA

Retirees

  1. Q: I am in the Retiree Self Funded Medical Plan. How does this switch form HMSA to HMA affect me?
A: The change in claims administrators from HMSA to HMA only affects active teachers. Retirees currently covered under the Self Funded Medical Plan will have no change in benefits or claims administrator.

  2. Q: I will be retiring in July 2009. Will I receive an HMA card or an HMSA card?
A: You will be receiving an HMSA card if you have elected to be enrolled in the Self Funded Medical plan. Once the ERS has certified your retirement, we will forward your enrollment to HMSA and an HMSA card will be generated. If you need medical services before you receive your card, please contact the ATPA office.
